Hi, I’m Helen, and welcome to my midlife blog.
This humble website is where you’ll find me sharing my thoughts on the simple things in life: home, garden, wellbeing and food.
I do not have everything worked out (by a very long way), but am hoping my blogs will share a little bit of loveliness and positivity in this crazy world we live in.
A little more about me
In short I’m a midlife mum to two teenagers, super organised, a little bit (well probably a lot) of a clean freak, and have a cockapoo puppy (I never thought I would ever say that!).
In December 2019, on hitting a major milestone birthday and after nearly 22 years working in a full-on role in the Finance department of a major retailer, I decided to take some time out to consider what to do next. I thought it might take a few weeks or possibly months to discover my passions and plan a route ahead.
But then the global pandemic made me look closer to home. With no grand plan, I began growing vegetables, doing a little bit of online yoga, and generally just being at home for my family working on the never ending cycle of cooking, washing and cleaning.
Life is not glamorous and definitely nowhere near perfect. I continually drive my family mad with my demands to load the dishwasher, not make a mess, and get off their devices. I know I am extremely fortunate, but since making a lifestyle change, I have been discovering that the simple things can bring the greatest joy.
Now we are all in 2022 (how did that happen?), my own journey continues with more stories of my garden, home, wellbeing and food. I have also recently enrolled in an Interior Design course (something I thought I would never be lucky enough to say) and will be sharing my progress (fingers crossed) this year, so watch this space..
I hope that you find my blogs and posts uplifting and helpful in a small way. Thank you for taking the time to read them.
